신태수 (대한민국)

1962년 경북 의성 태생. 안동대학교 미술대학, 영남대학교 대학원 동양화과 졸업. 30년 넘게 풍광 실경에 집중. 서해 5도를 답사하며 창작과 발표활동. 2012년 부터 3년동안 백령도를 수차례 방문하여 최북단의 섬의 역사적 지리적 특수성 소통. 신태수의 백령도 풍경 수묵화

작가 노트
겨울 한라산은 순백이다. 드러난 것은 검은 것이고 덮인 것은 하얀 눈이다. 흑백의 대비가 아름답다. 제주 한라산의 단순미와 숭고미를 수묵으로 표현했다.

SHIN Tae Soo (ROK)

Born in Euiseong, Gyeongbuk Province, in 1962, Tae Soo Shin earned a BFA degree from Andong University and a MFA degree from Yongnam University. For more than 30 years, Shin has produced landscape painting in ‘real view’, a Korean style of art that focuses on representing landscape the way it is seen. In recent years, Shin has explored the five islands in the West Sea of South Korea, which are located near the border with North Korea. Since 2012 Shin has visited Baekryeong Island several times, and has included reflections on the specific historical and geographical nature of the northernmost island in his work.

Artist Statement
Mt. Halla in winter is pure white. What is revealed is black. What is covered is white snow. The contrast of white and black is beautiful. The simplicity and the sublime of Mt. Halla on Jeju island is expressed by ink.
